The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted morning thunderstorms over the central states of Kaduna, Lafia, Minna, Jos and Abuja on Friday. The predictions are contained in the Weather Outlook issued by NiMet’s Central Forecast Office (CFO) on Thursday in Abuja.
It added that isolated thunderstorm would prevail over the high ground of Abuja, Bida and Nasarawa in the afternoon and evening hours with daytime maximum temperatures of 28 to 33 degrees Celsius.
The Agency predicted that the southern states would experience isolated rain showers over the coast with cloudy situation around the inland cities of Oshogbo, Akure, Enugu and Awka in the morning.
It also predicted that Lagos, Port Harcourt, Calabar, Enugu, Oshogbo, Akure, Ibadan, Awka and Owerri would experience localised thunderstorms later in the day with daytime maximum temperatures of 28 to 33 degrees Celsius. NiMet also predicted that northern states would experience cloudy to partly cloudy situation over some places in the morning.
It added that Sokoto, Gusau and Yelwa axis would have chances of localised thunderstorm later in the day with daytime maximum temperatures of 33 to 41 degrees Celsius. According to the prediction, there are more prospects of rainfall activities over most parts of the cities particularly the coast, inland and central up to the northern areas in the next 24 hours.
