Breaking News: Armed Robbers Attack CBN Bullion Vans, Kill Two Police Officers

Armed robbers have attacked a convoy of bullion vans belonging to the Central Bank of Nigeria in the early hours of Tuesday at Hawan Kibo along Jos – Abuja road.
Up to about two mobile police officers were killed in the operation.
According to The Punch, it was gathered that the bullion vans and their retinue of armed mobile policemen escorts had left Jos in the early hours of Tuesday enroute Abuja.
But somewhere along Hawan Kibo, immediately after a military check point, the armed robbers, wearing military uniforms, emerged from a bush and attacked a patrol team belonging to the Plateau State security outfit, “Operation Rainbow”, attached to Riyom local government, killing a mobile policeman on the spot.
It was further gathered that it was at this point that the CBN convoy also ran into the armed robbers who opened fire on it. The incident was said to happened at about 8.30 am.
The robbers engaged the escort in a shootout, leading to the death of the second mobile policeman, who was in the CBN convoy. The policeman was identified as Sgt. Anthony Jawa, from Mobile Police Squad (MOPOL) 8, Jos.
Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Tyopev Terna, who confirmed the incident said he was yet to receive the full report from Riyom divisional police. He said that some policemen were killed, but did not know the number.
As at the time of report, the CBN bullion vans and escort are at the Federal Road Safety office in Riyom
