Cheslea not giving up on Koulibaly

Contrary to earlier reports, Chelsea have renewed their efforts to sign Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly according to calciomercato.it.

The Blues coach Antonio Conte has reportedly upped his bid for the 25-year-old to a staggering £43.4million, having had earlier offers turned down by Napoli.

The Daily Mail earlier claimed that Chelsea were prepared to give up their pursuit of the Teranga Lions defender and turn attention to Torino defender Nikola Maksimovic instead.

However, it appears Conte is hell-bent on bringing Koulibaly to Stamford Bridge, though Napoli appear equally stubborn in their determination to keep a hold of him.

The Italian club will reportedly offer the centre-back a new contract, this despite him making it clear that he wants to leave Stadio San Paulo.

Any potential transfer for Koulibaly is also complicated by the fact that Maksimovic, who would serve as his replacement at Napoli, has gone on strike from Torino in an attempt to force a move.
