Nigeria finally came through to winning a medal at the on-going Rio 2016 Olympics as the Men's soccer team scored a bronze medal for the country.

The game which went down on Saturday, August 20, saw the Dream Team winning Honduras on a score line of 3-2.

The bronze medal winning match saw Aminu Umar scoring in the 34th and 49th minutes of the game.

In the 56th minute, Sadiq Umar scored a goal making giving Nigeria a decisive lead of 3-0 against Honduras.

Honduras began climbing back with Anthony Lozano scoring a goal in the 71st minute and Marcelo Periera scoring in the 86th minute making the score 3-2.

The bonze medal is being coined by some as the “Golden Bronze” referring to the fact that it is the only medal won by Team Nigeria so far at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Nigeria last won a medal at an Olympic Games in 2008, and this Bronze will bring the country’s overall tally to 24 medals won, with football now winning all colours of medals: GOLD in 1996, Silver in 2008, Bronze in 2016
