Francis Coquelin has been ruled out of action for three weeks with a knee injury.

Coquelin was forced to leave the field in the 32nd minute of the Gunners' 3-0 victory over Chelsea at the Emirates on Saturday, after he was hurt in a challenge with N'Golo Kante.

There were initial fears the 25-year-old could be sidelined for a lengthy spell when he left the ground in a knee brace, amid suggestions he may have aggravated an injury suffered at West Brom that kept him out for more than two months last season.

However, a scan has revealed the injury is not serious and Coquelin appears likely to miss just two matches.

He will sit out Arsenal's Champions League home game against Basel on Wednesday and Sunday's Premier League trip to Burnley, but boss Arsene Wenger will hope to have him available again for the visit of Swansea to the Emirates on October 15, after the international break.
