Eventual winners of the 2015/2016 Nigeria Professional Football League will go home with a prize money of N40 million.
According to the figures released by the League Management Company, the money will rise up to N90m in all direct payments for the 2016 season including the basic award which comprises pool of funds shared equally among all 20 participating clubs and the merit award paid to clubs based on their final position in the table.
Other incentives are the football development and bonus award which is paid to clubs based on performances including incentives for improved match attendance, away wins/ draws, fielding players under age of 18 and hosting live broadcast matches.
The LMC also stated that in addition to the direct payments, clubs do also benefit from indirect payments such as free registration of players and officials, free insurance, payment of match officials' indemnities,hotel accomodation, sponsored seminars as well as other engagements funded by the LMC.
Last season, Enyimba Football Club of Aba received N30m from the league body after winning a record seventh NPFL title.
Enyimba's oriental rivals, Enugu Rangers are on the verge of winning the title this term. They need a point from Sunday's home fixture to win a first title in 32- years.
