The Super Eagles showed signs of readiness for Sunday’s Russia 2018 World Cup qualifying cracker against Zambia in Ndola when they defeated Nigerian Professional Football League side,
Plateau United 3-0 in a test match yesterday at the main bowl of the Abuja national stadium
Arsenal striker Alex Iwobi scored a brace at the 57th and 90th minutes, while Anderson Esiti opened the goal chart in 39th minute in a match where the technical adviser introduced two different set of eleven players at both halves.
The Gornot Rohr’s tutored team were clinical in the midfield as the likes of Mikel Obi and Ogenyi Onazi created several chances which Iwobi who came in as substitute converted.
The match which seemed lacklustre in the first half got revitalized in the second half when captain John Mikel Obi led another team of eleven players which included Ogenyi Onazi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi, Moses Simon, Carl Ikeme and a host of others, to replace the first half team which was led by Leicester of England striker, Ahmed Musa with Nosa Igiebor, Ikechukwu Ezenwa and first goal scorer Eziti.
In the second, what looked like the starting XI for Sunday’s match were introduced wholesale with right-back Musa Mohammed the only survivor from the first half.
It was a better contest after the interval with a lot more intensity.
However, Olympiacos striker Brown Ideye was wasteful in front of the Plateau goal, while Joshua Obaje and Kabiru Umar posted a more assured performance at the other end of the pitch.
There were however a few slips between Eagles central defenders Kenneth Omeruo and William Troost-Ekong
