Nigerian Curator Shows Weird Art At Major EU Art-Exhibition

From metal Jesus to giant gas mask and cigarettes inserted in private parts – weirdest art objects from across the globe including Africa are on display at one of the largest art exhibition in Europe – the Venice biennale. The 56thInternational art exhibition in Venice gathered works by 136 artists from 53 countries including Nigeria. Besides that, for the first time in its 120 year history, this event is curated by a person from Africa – Nigerian curator Okwui Enwezor.

“The world before us today exhibits deep divisions and wounds, pronounced inequalities and uncertainties as to the future, so one of the reasons the Venice biennale invited Okwui Enwezor as curator was for his special sensitivity in this regard”, – stated the president of Venice biennale Paolo Baratta.

The art exhibited at the Venice biennale will be on display 22 November 2015. It is expected that nearly 400,000 visitors are going to come and see the art show before that date.
