Craigory Burch
A young man who won nearly 500,000 dollars in lottery has been shot dead in cold blood in his home after sharing online pictures of his winning ticket.
Burch, a forklift driver, bought his winning ticket on Nov. 29 from a gas station and won the $434,272 jackpot prize. Girlfriend Jasmine Hicks said: “When they came in, he said, ‘don’t do it, Don’t do it in front of my kids.
“‘Please don’t do it in front of my kids and old lady’.
“He said I’ll give you my bank card.”
Burch reportedly threw his trousers at the gunmen, who looked in his pockets for a wallet. However, after searching the trouser, they shot him after they didn't see a wallet. Ms Hendricks fled the scene and raised the alarm. The suspects are still at large, Georgia State Police said.
His family said he used the money to buy Christmas trees for the needy. Friends have flooded Facebook with tributes after learning of his death. Robert Coleman wrote in a post: “It saddens me to wake up at 8.30 in the morning to hear heart breaking news like this – a young man’s life is taken from stupidity.”
