Robbers Break Into Alausa Secretariat

A group of suspected armed robbers on Friday stormed the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, Alausa Secretariat, stealing over N3m. 


According go Vanguard, the robbers they went into the ministry’s accounts department through the ceiling where they took the money.
The money was meant to balance the allowances of about 40 staffs who had been offering voluntary work for the ministry.
The robbery wasn’t discovered until about 9:00 am by a staff that raised the alarm.
However about 20 civil servants have been arrested by the Alausa Police Station for investigation.

Leadership reports that the robbers were suspected to have been informed by some staff.
The permanent secretary in the ministry, Mr Lawal Pedro, confirmed the incident and said that those reportedly involved are being interrogated by the police.
Pedro, who also serves as the Lagos State solicitor-general, promised that the law would take its course on anyone found guilty in the robbery.
In a related development,  the Lagos state Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) has captured Oliver Dike, a former driver for a former Commissioner of Police (CP) and Assistant Inspector of Police (AIG) on suspicions of being the leader of a gang of thieves who specialized in stealing exotic cars.
