Boko Haram insurgents have attacked Njimtilo area for the second time today, the small village near Borno State Capital, Maiduguri.
Sahara Reporters are stating that the first suicide attack which occured at the earlier hours of the day, was meant to drive the military away leaving the area vulnerable for a new Boko Haram offensive.
Boko Haram are said to have returned to Njimtilo in the early evening with machine guns and other unknown weapons, murdering residents.
As of the time of this publication, we are yet to ascertain the number of casualties.
Earlier today, a suicide bomber had attacked the main checkpoint of the town.
A police officer close to the scene told reporters “The blast occurred at 12:30pm at the Njimtilo checkpoint; no one was reported dead but some Civilian-JTF members were injured”.
