Timipre Sylva, the former governor of Bayelsa state and the All Progressives Congress (APC) leader in the state, addressed those who he claims persecuted him and thought that they had finished him politically.
Daily Independent reports that the ex-governor said this at a mini-rally in Yenagoa at the weekend while receiving Werinipre Seibarugu, the former deputy governor, Nestor Binabo, the former acting governor and speaker of the state House of Assembly, Warman Ogoriba, immediate past member of the House of Representatives, and others.
Recounting his ordeal to the party members and supporters, Sylva lamented that his political detractors fought him from everywhere, including Otuoke.
However, the former governor noted that although his political adversaries thought that they had buried him instead they planted a seed.
“Those who participated in my persecution and removed me as governor concluded that I was finished politically. They never knew I was a tree planted to germinate in another place. They thought they were burying me, they never knew it was a seed they planted,” he said.
Sylva said that his political persecution and subsequent removal as governor would be a lesson for the APC, which he said needs to be united ahead of the December 5 governorship election in the state.
Meanwhile, Alex Ekiotenne, the spokesman for the Bayelsa Peoples Consultative Assembly, revealed that Timipre Sylva would not be contesting the Bayelsa governorship election.
