Sixteen-year-old Fatihaat Ismail is one teenager who is making a good use of her holiday to promote hidden talents in Nigerian youths.
Fatihaat is the founder and coordinator of Great Leading Africa Minds (GLAM). She is a young girl with a tall dream.
Using music, dance and fashion which is a tool to catch the youth’s attention, GLAM organized a youth development programme.
The event aimed at encouraging and motivating the youth to nurture their talents in order to be self-dependent and useful members of the society.
The event was a worthwhile experience as it provided lot of thrills, glamour and excitement for parents, guardians and children. It also featured individual performances and group presentations by the GLAM musical and dance groups.
One of the participants, Godswill Akuwudike, a 15-year-old student of Radiance High School, Festac Town, Lagos, who presented a solo song and also featured in the group performance, was excited at being able to display his talent and enjoined parents and guardians to lend their support to their children as it would boost their confidence.
Fatihaat could not hide her feelings as she expressed profound gratitude to corporate bodies, schools, parents and guardians who offered their support towards making the event a success.
She urged the corporate world to continue to lend their support in the development of the youths.
Fatihaat, a student of University of North Texas (UNT), Denton, United States of America, is currently in Nigeria for her summer holiday.
