Ekiti Legislators Confirm Odeyemi, Others

Ekiti legislators on Wednesday, August 19,2015, unanimously confirmed Olatunji Odeyemi, the former speaker of the assembly as chairman, Assembly Service Commission.
Odeyemi was the speaker between 2007 and 2011, and also the acting governor during the period of re-run election that brought former Gov. Segun Oni to power.

He was screened and confirmed along with three other members of the commission at plenary presided over by the speaker, Kola Oluwawole.
Members of the commission confirmed along with Odeyemi are: Bode Adewole, a former legislator in the state, Lanre Fajuyi and Muyiwa Fadahunsi.
Also at the plenary, the house passed the State Assembly Service Commission Fourth Amendment Law, 2015.
Leader of the House, Olatunji Akinyele, said the amendment became necessary to correct some lopsidedness noticed in the composition of the board.
He added that the amendment bill would give equal representation to the three senatorial districts in the composition of the commission.
Addressing newsmen after his confirmation, Odeyemi promised to introduce meaningful development to the commission if his appointment is ratified by Gov. Ayo Fayose.
