El-Rufai Gets Tough On Squatters... But Not All Of Them

Kaduna state governor Mallam Nasir el-Rufai declared war on houses built on the land of the public institutions; yet, some of the owners of demolished buildings will be compensated – see who are those lucky ones.
Kaduna state governor Nasir el-Rufai declared that the public lands in the state should be cleared of the private residential structures.
Our public schools and hospitals were built to benefit less privileged, therefore, we will not allow some selfish individuals to take over these lands,” told el-Rufai.
However, he promised that some of the building owners will be compensated – but only those ones who have all the appropriate paperwork; genuine certificate of occupancy and approved building plans.
Kaduna state governor also explained that the procedure of demolition in the state commenced from Alhudahuda College because the majority of the private houses within the college premises have been built illegally, without legal permission from the state.
However, he assured the public that those who built their houses close to students classrooms or hospitals legally, will be compensated “no matter how much it will cost us”.
Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state is running a government that does not consider the interest of the people of the state, according to Shehu Sani, the senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District.
Sani said he will call El-Rufai to order if he doesn’t deliver on the promises he made before his inauguration.
According to Sani, the governor’s policies are harsh, inconsiderate and anti-people.
