Masari Commences Probe Of His Predecessor

Katsina state governor, Amina Masari, has inaugurated four committees to investigate activities of some departments and agencies in the state during  administration of former governor, Ibrahim Shema.
News Agency of Nigeria reported that the agencies that will come under scrutiny are Department of Girl-child Education, Millennium Development Goals , Road Maintenance Agency and Universal Basic Education Board.
Masari while inaugurating the committees yesterday, August 17, directed  it to ascertain locations, state of projects or programmes executed by the affected agencies between 2011 and 2015.
He also directed them to determine whether the funds earmarked for the projects were judiciously used and advised the government accordingly.
Masari stressed that the probe was not to witch-hunt anybody and charged the committee members to put aside sentiments in the discharge of their assignment.
The governor said the probe was necessary as it would assist the administration establish more vibrant institutions dedicated to the service of the state.
The committee chairmen are Abdu Kant, Dr. Kabir Matazu, SUBEB; Abdullahi Imam, and Mariya Abdullahi and they are expected to submit their report in three weeks.
Meanwhile, Masari has maintained that the immediate past administration left the state treasury empty and N42 billion debt which has made implementation of developmental projects slower.
