Indiscipline In The Police: AIG Mbu Talks Tough

The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) for zone two, Joseph Mbu, has warned policemen under his command to shun acts of indiscipline or be ready to face his wrath.
Mbu made the call this past weekend after his meeting with the commissioners of police in the zone for a review of some of the issues raised at the recently held security summit held in Abuja.
Mbu frowned at acts of drunkenness, bribery, extortion, abuse of power and shabby dressing, vowing to deal decisively with any police personnel found wanting in any of these areas.
He also directed senior police officers to discipline any errant junior officer  they come across violating these rules, adding that superior officers cannot be everywhere at the same time.
He expressed hope for a better police, noting that with the promise of funding made by President Muhammadu Buhari, would enable the force quit begging for money from state governors and local government chairmen.
Mbu threatened to prosecute any police personnel found conniving with criminal elements, saying he would not tolerate anyone who drags the force’ reputation to the mud.
He said: “There is a new dawn now in the Nigeria Police and there is hope now that the police will improve.
“Because of the address of the President and Commander in Chief at the opening of the security summit, the Nigeria police would soon smile.
“But we must work hard and maintain integrity because the President has promised to take care of us.”
