Femi Fani-Kayode, a former minister of aviation, has stated that he developed thick skin for those who always attack him.
In a recent Facebook post, the PDP chieftain stated that the former president Olusegun Obasanjo taught him not to respond or join issue with ignorant people.
It is worth mentioning that Fani-Kayode has come under heavy criticisms for saying that the Igbos were most likely to break away from Nigeria in no distant future.
Apparently responding to the heat generated by his statement, the former minister wrote:
“One of the things that I learnt from my leader, President Olusegun Obasanjo is that one must never respond to the ignorant, the uncouth, the uncultured, the unlettered, the unrefined and the accursed.
“He also taught us never to join issues with the embittered, the obsessed, the imbecilic, the foolish, the living-dead and those that are emotionally, psychologically and intellectually challenged.
“Rather than a response, such sad and sorry souls are only deserving of our prayers and our pity.”
The statement triggered mixed reactions among Nigerians: while some people praised Fani-Kayode for his courage and described him as a person who always speaks his mind, others strongly criticized his words and actions.
“He isnt sayin he is now in support of Obasanjo, he only quotes him and don’t forget that Obasanjo is one of our leaders and elders in Naija… Like him or dislike, Femi Olukayode speaks his mind, never a coward,” St Paul Peters noted.
“Supporters of APC and Buhari hates you because you are vocal and always stand firm in what you believe in! I like you for that!” Fredrick Agwaga wrote.
“You’re a bold and courageous man. You always speak the truth no matter whose ox is gored. Keep it up, sir,” Obinna Chukwu expressed his support.
“FFK? With people like you still loitering in the corridor of power Nigeria has no future…Upon all you eat and said during GEJ tenure. Now all of a sudden OBJ has become your leader? You eat from both sides of your mouth. Now you speak as if you’ve suddenly found your lost brain. You are welcome back to the world,” Adesina David Wusu noted.
Sadiq Buhari Allahde wrote: “I think the words you used in the above statement actually describe you to a very great extent: the ignorant, the uncouth, the uncultured, the unlettered, the unrefined and the accursed”.
“You have issue with everybody body in d world. Even your own family too. Yet blindly they give you a whole Aviation ministeries to look after. What a man without wisdom. Lost control of words and your own daughters and wife. Shame on you and your generation woman beater,” Muhammed Awwal Abdullahi wrote.
