A 54 year old man has been arrested by the police for allegedly raping an eight year old girl (name withheld) in the Ajegunle area of the state, Vanguard reports.
The man simply identified as Ayela was a close friend of the victim’s father when he was alive. The young girl accused the man of repeatedly having carnal knowledge of her each time she went to his house located on Mission Street.
The girl disclosed that twice when she ran errands for her grandmother along Mission street, he called her inside and raped her after which he handed N50 to her. The Issue was known when the girl was accosted by a woman when she was coming out of the man’s house. Her story led police attached to Area B command, Apapa to invite Ayela for a interrogation.
He however denied the accusation, citing that the relationship he had with her late father wouldn’t allow him to defile the young girl. He vehemently denied having any sexual relationship with his friend’s daughter.
“How can I rape my late friend’s daughter? They live on Ayorinde Street, while I live at Mission Street.
“Any time I see her passing by, I usually gave her money. Sometimes she comes to say hello. On this day, she just opened my door without knocking. I swear I did not rape her.”
The girl however interrupted him, insisting that it wasn’t the first time he had done it.
“He is lying. He did it sometime ago. This is not the first time. It is the second time.”
According to policed source, the girl has been taken to a medical centre where her accusations will be verified. The police promised that the result would dictate the next line of action.
