Okorocha Explains Why He Said APC Will Rule For 24 Years

The governor of Imo state, Chief Rochas Okoracha has thrown more light on his earlier statement that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will rule for 24 years in the state.
In a press statement issued by his media aide, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo, and made available to journalists in Owerri, Okorocha said his statement was anchored on enviable achievements by his administration, which could be seen by all, Vanguard reports.
The governor advised loyalists of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to stop losing sleep over his statement and trying to compare it with a similar claim by the former National Chairman of the PDP, Dr. Vincent Ogbulafor, who said the PDP would rule the country for 60 years.
The Imo state government acknowledged what it called, “the concerted effort being made by some PDP elements in the state to wrongly situate the claim by the governor that his party would not only become stronger in the state and even in the South-East, but would govern the state for 24 years.”
Some members of the PDP in the state, yet to recover from the shock of losing the governorship elections in 2011 and in 2015 consecutively, have been making fruitless efforts to read harmful meaning into that innocent claim of the governor,” the statement read.
According to Onwuemeodo, Governor Okorocha’s claim and that of Chief Ogbulafor could not be compared as they were not the same.
That of Ogbulafor was only anchored on federal might they had always leveraged on to indulge in high degree of impunity during elections, while that of Okorocha was anchored on enviable record of achievements by his administration,” he said.
About a week ago, Okorocha had announced the APC would not only remain strong but would be in power in Imo state for the next 24 years. He also vowed to make sure the party becomes very strong in the whole of South East.
