Osinbajo's Aides Clash With Organisers Of Ooni's Burial

The protocol officers of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and organisers of the inter-religious farewell service in honour of the late Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuade, clashed on Friday, August 14 over the allocation of tables to dignitaries.
The Ooni of Ife is to be buried today. The rites are already underway.
According to The Punch, at the make-shift hall, where the ceremony is to take place, a leader of the VP’s protocol team picked a front table for his principal, but the organisers told him that the table was already designated for the Osun state governor, Rauf Aregbesola, and other officials in the state.
This led to a heated argument as Osinbajo’s advance team insisted on reserving the table for the vice president.
However, the intervention of Ife elders and prominent palace figures prevented matters from degenerating further, with the Aregbesola faction winning the place at the table.
Meanwhile, as the burial of the Ooni gets underway, the race for the successor to the sacred throne is on.
It was reported that the new occupant of the throne may come from the Lafogido ruling family, popularly referred to as Ademiluyi ruling family.
Other names up for consideration in the Lafogido-Ademiluyi family include; Prince Ademola Ademiluyi, a lawyer, Prince Yinka Ademiluyi, a socialite, Gboyega Ademiluyi, a highly successful oil magnate, Prince Adebambo Ademiluyi, an ex-Kings College graduate, and Prince Kanmi Ademiluyi, former editor of The Punch newspaper.
Kanmi may be in serious contention in the selection of the new Ooni because of his maternal connection with the Lagos Peregrino family, and close affinity with the ruling All Progressives Congress in Osun state. He is said to be really close to both Governor Rauf Aregbesola and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
