Women and men from all around the world started a #FlexinMyComplexion campaign by showing off their beautiful dark skin photos on social media.

Feeling unnoticed and uncelebrated dark-skinned men and women took to Twitter and Facebook in a bid to prove that white skin is not the only kind of complexion that is beautiful. A viral hashtag celebrating the rich darker skin tones among people of color was inspired by the works of artist and activisr Kameelah Janan Rasheed.
“I think it’s important for women of color to know if they’re brown/dark they’re beautiful too and deserve to be noticed. Dark skin, in all backgrounds, is beautiful and should be recognized as so,” the woman who runs POCBeauty, a Twitter account that celebrates people of colour, said.
