Pistorius Set To Be Freed

South African Paralympian Oscar Pistorius will walk free from prison this friday after being in jail for only 10 months after he was locked up for killing his girlfriend.
Pistorius was sentenced to five years in jail last October for culpable homicide and is now eligible for release into house arrest after serving one-sixth of his sentence.
However Prosecutors have filed an appeal against the judgement seeking a re-trial which may see him convicted of murdering his model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day 2013.
If they win their case, which will be heard in November, the 28-year-old might face at least 15 years in jail.
Pistorius had in his defense said that he mistoke reeva for an intruder but prosecutors insist that he deliberately killed her after an argument.
Pistorius impending release goes along with South african law which states that a prisoner who qualifies for house arrest could be sent home as long as he exemplifies good behaviour.
The South African correctional services officials had earlier indicated that Pistorius did behave like a good inmate so therefore will be released.
“He’s not out on parole on the 21st August, he’s having his sentence converted to a house arrest sentence,” said criminal lawyer David Dadic.
“He’s now confined to a house for a period until he’s actually on parole,” said Dadic. “They’ll confine him essentially to what he would be doing in prison but in the confines of his own house.”
Pistorius trial had taken the world attention as no one could predict that the soft spoken athlete could have commited such brazen and cold hearted murder.
