Police Arrest Man Who Stole N5.3 Million For Baby's Surgery

A man, Benson Wanjau, who defrauded of a Murangá family about Ksh3 million equivalent of N5.3 million, meant to airlift baby Fidelis Muthoni to Canada for specialist treatment has been arrested.
A volunteer, Ndugu Nyoro, confirmed through a Facebook post that contained the photos of the conman, that Wanjau is now in the police custody, and the CID will be taking him to court by Monday, August 24.
Wanjau used Fidelis’s unfortunate condition to solicit for funds, and after he received donations from well-wishers, he disappeared with all the money.
According to Kenya-post.com, the baby was expected to fly to Canada on Friday, August 21, for surgery, but the shameless man carted away all the money raised.
Speculations had it that the fraudster was hiding in Mexico, bearing the name Alejandro Wanjau after the poor baby’s parents reported the matter to the police.
Here are some other photos of the hideous man who many say can only compared to the devil himself.

Fidelis Muthoni, has a bone defect medically known as frontal Encephalocele. Benson Wanjau posed as having an NGO, Hope Foundation, which assisted disabled children.
Wanjau agreed to open a bank account in the girl’s name as a pay bill number – 317081 – was also set up. According to Safaricom, some Ksh 2.8 million was deposited in the paybill number by well-wishers.
Sadly, days to airlifting the girl to receive treatment in Canada, Wanjau withdrew all the money and disappeared. However, the police succeeded in catching him.
