Residents of Ijegun in Alimosho council area of Lagos state are furious with the daytime curfew imposed by a sister community, Ije Ododo; when ‘Oro’ cult adherents barred people from using the only link-road between them, even at day period.

Oro cult is the popular but dreadful Yoruba masquerade that forbids women from coming out at night.
It is widely believed that women caught by the masquerade are usually sacrificed to the gods, but where the worshipers carry out the festival, it usually lasts seven days, and on the grand finale, curfew will be imposed on the community for 24 hours, the day inclusive.
However, when contacted, the monarch of Ije Ododo, Chief Tajudeen Suberu Ododo, justified the curfew saying that the community offered special prayers (etutu) for peace in their land based on events happening around them and the curfew was announced on radio.
His explanation does not satisfy many residents and non-indigenes who were barred and also forced to remain indoors.
