Real Madrid might have competed their marquee signing for the 2015 summer transfer window after announcing that a deal has been agreed with Italian giants, Inter Milan to buy Mateo Kovacic.
The Spanish club have spend as much as €35 million to complete the signing of the 21 year old Croatian midfielder.
Inter boss, Roberto Mancini, on Sunday said the player would be sold in order to comply with the Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules which has seen the club spend as much as $50m in this transfer window.
On Tuesday August 18th, Kovacic penned a six-year deal with the 2014 champions league winners.
Kovacic will be unveiled as a Madrid player on Wednesday after undertaking a medical.
A statement on Madrid’s website read: “Real Madrid and Inter have agreed to the transfer of Mateo Kovacic. He will remain at the club for the next six seasons.”
Kovacic joined Inter in 2013 from Dinamo Zagreb and over the last two seasons has been one of the club’s better players. The midfielder scored eight goals in 44 games in all competitions last season.
