There was confusion at pen cinema police station Agege, Lagos state, when two  robbery suspects who were arrested and handed over to the police by members of the Odua People’s Congress (OPC), escaped.

learnt that a 10 man robbery gang had attacked Sands Hotel located at Sands Avenue Off Iju Road at about 2 a.m but were overpowered by OPC members employed to keep guard at the area.
During interrogation, one of the OPC guards told the police that he recognised one of the robbers who he named as Dare Drain.
Drain allegedly confessed to taking part in the robbery operation and then led the OPC members to different locations where two other members, Akeem Ak and Lekan were apprehended.
The suspects were handed over to the police at Agege for further interrogations.
However, to the surprise of the OPC team who had gone to the station to check on the suspects that were being detained, the OPC was told that two of three suspects had escaped from police cell.
The division police officer (DPO) of the station simply identified as Oliver broke the news to the OPC.
Oliver pleaded with the OPC team to help to re-arrest the fleeing robbers saying that the robbers broke the burglary before they escaped stating that officers on duty during the escapade have been detained
There is now palpable fear among the staff of Sands hotel and members of the OPC over concerns that the robbers could regroup to launch a reprisal attack.
