Suicide Bombers Launch Attack In Maiduguri

Shortly after the attack in Damaturu, Yobe state, suspected bombers launched an assault at an airport junction checkpoint in Maiduguri, Borno state, Daily Post reports.
Recall that the dire blast rocked Damaturu motor park in the early hours of Tuesday, August 25, killing at least six people.
Less that 24 hours after the incident a suicide bombing was said to have occurred in Borno capital. As a result of the night attack a soldier and two suspected bombers died, one female sustained injuries.
Locals disclosed that the suspects had been first spotted at noon. One Mala Bukar narrated:
“When residents became suspicious of their movement, they left, only to return in the evening. We were able to recognise one of the corpses, because we saw them waiting around the airport junction. Perhaps, they were waiting to attack some VIPs. When the soldier approached them, they detonated the explosive, killing the soldier.”
Last week there was a suicide bombing at a checkpoint on a major highway connecting Damaturu with Maiduguri. Officials reported that eight people lost their lives from the explosion.
Meanwhile amid the attempts of the new administration to tackle insurgency in Nigeria and the neighbouring countries, the leadership of the Multi-National Joint Task Force directed to deploy 8,700 more soldiers to the affected region.
