The crises rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) since its poor performance at the last general polls have continued unabated with emergence of a faction in Kano state.

A group named PDP OUR PARTY has come out hitting hard on the leadership of the party, accusing both the executive and the leading gladiator, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau and Ambassador Aminu Wali of deliberately grounding the party for selfish reasons.
Caretaker, public relations officer of the factional group, Comrade Yakubu Ado Baso, said that the emergence of the group is not in any way aimed at disrupting the unity of the PDP in Kano, rather it will strengthen and bring the needed cohesion and sense of belonging to all members.
Baso who addressed journalists on the issue explained that, the out-of-favour leadership of the party led by Alhaji Rabiu Dan Sharu did nothing to shore up the party during the last elections which led it to its present status.
The PRO while lamenting the pitiable situation of the Kano PDP stressed that it was due to the weakness of leadership at both state and local government levels that saw the former vibrant party crumble like a pack of cards before and after the last general elections, adding that the party has lost its soul.
The forum therefore announced Comrade Aminu Sa’ad Beli as its acting chairman and solicited the support and cooperation of all PDP members in the state to rally-round his new leadership so as to revive the party from its present comatose position.
PDP in Kano was engulfed in leadership crisis since its defeat by APC in the last general elections where it lost the governorship, state house of assembly and chairmanship positions.
Allegations were rife that the powers that-be, then allocated all available contestable positions among their cronies.
The arrangement saw former minister of education, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, producing the governorship candidate in the person of Malam Salihu Sagir Takai while the ex-foreign affairs minister, Ambassador Aminu Wali getting the deputy governorship slot.
As if that was not done, the position of members of the house of representatives and state assembly respectively, were evenly distributed by these powerfulgodfathers, a situation that did not go down well with most PDP members in the state.
Millions of campaign funds allocated by the national headquarters of the PDP to the state’s chapter were also alleged to have been diverted leaving candidates at their own mercies.
