The recent bomb attack in Malkohi Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Yola, Adamawa state has been condemned by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking through his senior special assistant on media and publicity, Mallam Shehu Garba, the president described the attack as a heinuos and cowardly act.
According to Vanguard, he then directed relevant authorities to take adequate measures to checkmate future occurrence of such dastardly act in the IDPs.
He ordered security agencies to tighten security measures in and around all IDP camps across the country to and guard against this sort of incident in the future.
Buhari noted that the terrorists were bent on causing fear and panic among Nigerians by detonating bombs within soft spots close to innocent citizens domain, urging Nigerians to rise in unison to root out the terrorists.
He said: “We must not let the desperate and evil-minded criminals have any respite.There is now an urgent need for all to be vigilant by paying utmost attention to security issues at all levels – home, work, market, places of worship, schools, etc.
“To defeat terrorism, all hands round the clock is called for, and to feed the country’s security agents with vital information to preempt and prevent crimes so as to forestall further insurgent activities.’’
Meanwhile, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) camp in Fufore, Adamawa state, received 650 Nigerians sent back home from Cameroon.
