There is rumour making rounds that immediate past governor of Lagos state Babatunde Raji Fashola has acquired the gigantic Elephant Cement House located in Alausa.
Details of some contracts awarded under the administration of Fashola were recently published on the website of the Lagos state procurement agency but following an outcry from some section of the public, details of the contracts were removed from the site.
The exact figure Fashola coughed out to acquire the property cannot be ascertained as at time of filing this report, but it is understood to have run to several millions.
all the staff of Elephant Cement who were occupying the building were said to have been relocated to their new permanent site located in Ikosi Road, Oregun, Lagos.
The banks and other tenants who were operating at the famous Elephant House have also been given quit notice, as the place is now under lock and key.
A source close to Fashola’s camp confirmed that the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) acquired the property with a fortune, but refused to disclose the figure involved and what the place will now be used for.
