PMB Demands List Of Nigerians Who Use Diplomatic Passports Illegally

On Tuesday, September 8, President Muhammadu Buhari ordered to submit him a list of former government officials and other people using diplomatic passports illegally.

The Nation reports that the president called for the record during briefing by Bulus Lolo, the permanent secretary in the ministry of foreign affairs, at the state house in Abuja.
According to a statement made by Femi Adesina, the president’s special adviser on media and publicity, Buhari intends to take necessary measures against defaulters.
“Something has to be done so that we can get back our respectability as a country. Some people carry official passports and get involved in all sorts of negative acts. We need to do something about it,” the president told the ministry officials.
Apart from this, Buhari ordered the reduction of Nigeria’s foreign missions abroad.
Bulus Lolo revealed that due to the economic situation in the country, the nation must reduce the present 119 missions abroad and determine the number of essential missions so that appropriate standards and quality would be maintained.
On Monday, September 7, the Nigerian Immigration Service instructed former Nigerian public office holders to immediately submit official and diplomatic passports issued to them while they were in office.
The categories of officials affected by the directive are former governors,  ministers, senators, members of the House of Representatives, and members of state Houses of Assembly.
