Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has stated that the state was excluded from the bailout funds release by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Wike made this disclosure in Port Harcout on Sunday, September 6, during a town hall meeting with people of the state as part of activities marking his 100 days in office.
He said: “For record purposes, I wish to tell this Forum that Rivers State did not get bailout funds from the federal government. It is important to let you know the facts, before people start saying a different thing.”
Wike explained that his first 100 days in office was used to deliver capital projects, payment of backlog of salaries, security, housing, education, sports development and others, The Sun reports,
He said: “Although, we have committed more resources to road construction, it does not mean that our administration cares less about other priorities.”
The governor said that his administration is in partnership with a commercial bank to revive the Cassava Processing Plant, saying in six months’ time the plant will be operational.
Wike disclosed further that his administration has already open discussion with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture and the Rivers State University of Science and Technology to revamp the college of Agriculture which he alleged was shut down by the previous government.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress had told Wike to constitute his cabinet and stop running a one man show.
