She said the outstanding leadership role and love for the Yoruba race and Nigeria exhibited by Gani Adams should be emulated by other leaders of ethno-cultural organisations in Nigeria. The Ambassador stated this on Saturday when a powerful delegation from Nigeria led by Otunba Gani Adams, who is also the convener of the Odua Progressive Union arrived the Country capital.
Gani Adams was in the country for the launch of the Cote d’Ivoire chapter of the Odua Progressive Union alongside royal fathers including HRM Oba Adewole Joseph Adebayo, HRM Oba Bola Sani Olanipekun, HRM Oba Adeoye Lasisi Olawuyi, HRM Oba Walidu Sanni, Nollywood Star Actor, Yomi Fash Lanso, MC Kirikiri, OPC NCC Members and media friends.
Speaking at the gathering, Gani Adams told the gathering that Odua Progressive Union,is non-governmental, non-religious social cultural organisation formed in 2011 to create an enabling podium for the sons and daughters of Yoruba in diaspora worldwide.
He further explained that OPU seeks to preach Unity and Peaceful co-existence among all Yorubas spread across the globe,pointing out that his mission in the country is to Launch the Cote d’Ivoire branch of OPU which is already spread across over 60 countries in the world.
In her remarks,Her Excellency Ambassador Akabogu-Chinwuba informed the gathering that the population of Nigerians in her country is about 3Million with Yorubas representing about 85% of the population hence the wisdom in the choice of having a branch of OPU in the country,she later presented plaques to Otunba Gani Adams and the Royal Fathers as a gesture to mark their visit to Nigeria Mission in Cote d’Ivoire.
Aside the Ambassador, members of the Nigeria Community in Cote d’Ivoire, Yoruba Community, principal officers of the Nigeria Mission were also in attendance and all gave kudos to the Ambassador for her willingness and open door policy,she was also praised for being humane in handling issues affecting Nigerians in Cote d’Ivoire.
Meanwhile, Adams has praised the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari on his anti-corruption programme.
