Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift in Top 3 as Twitter Crowns Katy Perry World's Most Followed Person

American popstar singer, Katy Perry becomes most popular person on Twitter with whopping millions of followers...yet fellow pop stars, Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift are close behind.
American singer, songwriter, and actress, Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, better known by her stage name as Katy Perry, has been crowned the world's most followed person on Twitter, while fellow pop stars, Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift nabbed the second and third spots respectively.

The 31-year-old singer who created her account in 2009, was crowned the queen of the social networking site after she became the first person to reach 80 million followers, though she currently has 80.4 million followers.

Hot on her heels is Justin Bieber with his 72.9 million followers, while Taylor Swift follows closely behind as she secures third position with 68.8 million fans on the micro-blogging site.

Despite her mass following, Katy insists she often likes to distance herself from the cyber world and take a break.

Asked if she replies to her fans on Twitter, she told Mashable: "Sometimes I do, I kind of do a lot more of it when I'm in the zone mode. Right now I'm in a relaxed, chilled vacationing zone, I've got my spanx on and I'm just taking a little break.

I think I have to find that balance between Tweeting too much and plus I have so many followers that nobody really wants me to fill up their timeline."

Katy Perry, who has an estimated net worth of $260 million, is the richest royalty of music. Based on Forbes' 2015 list of the world's highest paid women in music, the pop superstar's estimated annual earnings is $135 million.

That whooping amount was compiled after Forbes examined her pre-tax income from June 2014-June 2015 from concerts, record sales, publishing, endorsements, and other business ventures.
