‘Thugs’ break into NFF headquarters



Suspected thugs believed to be loyal to one of the factional presidents of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) broke into the headquarters of the body in Abuja on Friday.



Staff of the NFF were taken aback when the Chris Giwa-led faction of the federation stormed the secretariat in several cars, vowing to take over the leadership of the football body.

Their attempt to gain access to the offices, which were locked, was resisted by the staff.

Christian Emeruwa, NFF’s national security officer, and Tunde Aderibigbe, NFF’s coordinator on political matters and Ademola Olajire, the federation’s head of communications, were assaulted in the melee that ensued.

Some of Giwa’s supporters who accompanied him were Effiong Johnson, Sani Fema, Rumson Baribote, Ben Agary, Yahaya Adama, Jide Fashikun, Fatai Olayinka, and Abdulazeez Mohammed.

The incident comes 24 hours after the sports committee of the house of representatives claimed to have brokered peace after meeting with Amaju Pinnick and Giwa.
