Dangerous Places To Live In Lagos

The number of people moving into Lagos daily is increasing and most of them plan to settle in the city. Some people who already reside in Lagos sometimes plan to relocate to another part of the city. It is important to take cognizance and be familiar with the volatile areas in Lagos. Knowing the places will help one to prepare and be able to deal with situations in these parts of the state.
Here are 5 dangerous places to live in Lagos.
Oshodi

Oshodi is a very notorious place to live in Lagos and (un)arguably has the highest number of ‘area boys’. Most of these area boys also double as agbero and NURTW workers. The former governor of Lagos, Babatunde Fashola carried out cleansing project years ago to sanitize Oshodi and just days ago, about 200 area boys were arrested by the Rapid Response Squad in Oshodi. Under the bridge is a smoking joint and pick pockets make the place a hunting ground.

Agege is a popular part of Lagos partly due to the ‘Agege Bread’. That’s not the only reason the place is famous though. It is one of the dangerous slums in Lagos. Flooding is a major problem in some parts of the local government and the abattoir area is hygienically unsafe. The Akerele area is a bird nest for illegal drug activities. Agege also has a lot of old houses that pose big threats to the occupants since ‘mending’ and painting makes it difficult to detect.

Mushin

Mushin is a densely populated area in Lagos. Criminal activities in the area are on the rise and petty stealing is a usual occurrence. People take extra measures securing their houses before leaving for work in the morning. It is also a dangerous place to be t night as gangs of thieves usually hang around waiting for people to rob.

Ketu/Mile 12

The popular market in this area has made it a go-to area for traders and buyers. It’s however a very dangerous place to live considering the number of criminals who come under the guise of trading and buying to steal and cause havoc. The area is also prone to serious traffic and car owners who are stuck in traffic late into the night know they are at the risk of being robbed. The activities of drug dealers in the area make it a dangerous place to inhabit.
Ajegunle

Ajegunle is a popular place in Lagos known for its home grown Rastafarian-like singers. It is however a place known for idolizing marijuana and the promotion of vices. The environment is very volatile and if you don’t belong to the ‘hood’, you are in serious danger of being robbed or molested. Ajegunle is also a slum area and the standard of living there is low. Affectionately called A J city by its residents, it is a place suitable only for those who know how the tough boat rocks.
