Police operatives in Lagos have arrested a herbalist who is suspected to be the ring leader of a robbery gang and recovered $118,000 and 50,000 Pounds, Vanguard report.
The policemen who were from the Ilupeju Division arrested the herbalist in his shrine at Ilupeju.
The robbery gang nicknamed ‘Catch in the air’ allegedly intercepted a van conveying money to the bank last week.
The stolen money was said to belong to Bankers Warehouse Management. After the police retrieved the money from the robbers, it was handed over to the owners as instructed by the commissioner of police, Fatai Owoseni.
A member of staff of the company who spoke under anonymity commended the police for their effort.
“Immediately the money was recovered, the Ilupeju Divisional Police Officer, Olayinka Egbeyemi, handed it over to us intact.
“An anti-robbery team from the division escorted us in order to guarantee our safety and that of the money.”
In a related development, four robbers were arrested in Abuja by police operatives after they allegedly dispossessed their victims of their valuables.
