These People Dare Buhari To Be In His Cabinet

While President Muhammadu Buhari is delaying the appointment of his ministers, the physically challenged have indicated their interest to be part of his new government.
Vanguard reports that the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) on August 18 appealed to the president to consider their members for federal appointment.
Dauda Sale, the national secretary of the group told journalists in Lafia that the same gesture should be simulated by the governor Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa state and his colleagues.
He stated that the inclusion of physically challenged in the Buhari’s ministerial list would further give them a sense of belonging in the scheme of affairs in the states and the country.
He said: “If the physically challenged persons are given government positions, it would go a long way to reduce the hardship and discrimination they often face in the society.
“Our members have been neglected over the years at the federal level in the area of education and healthcare.’’
Sale said that most of the members were smart and talented in spite of their physical problems and could contribute implicitly to the development of Nigeria.
He also asked the federal government to start programmes that would help the physically challenged to become independent instead of begging for arms to survive.
The secretary praised Al-Makura for the current construction of three special schools in the state to supply the education of the physically challenged. He, meawhile, called for their speedy completion.
Buhari postponed selecting a cabinet for two months until September as he takes time to seek credible ministers to lead his government.
He, who defeated Goodluck Jonathan in March poll and became the leader of the nation on May 29, promised during his campaign to clamp down on corruption and defeat the Boko Haram insurgency in the northeast of Nigeria.
