Why I Want To Unify South East Governors - Okorocha

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state and chairman of the All Progressives Congress governors’ forum has said his ultimate desire is to bring together the governors and leaders of the South-East to work with President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government.
Okorocha said this to newsmen on Monday, August 24, at the Sam Mbakwe international cargo airport in Owerri on his arrival from Abuja, Vanguard reports.
The governor said: “As the only APC governor in the South East, I cannot do it alone and I cannot also play the attendant politics of establishing a very strong relationship between the South East governors and the APC-led Federal Government alone. Hence, every governor and leader in the South East must be carried along in the whole thing.”
Okorocha also explained that while in Abuja, the south east governors were able to meet with President Buhari, adding that it was more than even reassuring that the south east people would work totally with the present administration at the federal level.
He said: “We, the governors of the South East and indeed, the leaders from the area, are all determined to work with the president and the president himself is also more determined to work with the South East.”
The governor said it was his considered opinion that all the imaginary worries about what comes to the zone is not absolutely necessary now, adding that the governors had been able to establish a very cordial relationship with the president.
He also stated that it has been assured that the zone would not be left out of the whole political and economic equations of Nigeria.
The national secretary of the Igbo Political Forum (IPF), Chief Chyna Iwuanyanwu had some days ago criticised the appointments made so far by the president, saying the appointments have been one-sided.
