Missing a penalty doesn’t make you a bad player" - Cristiano Ronaldo reacts to Messi's retirement

Portugal and Real Madrid superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo has lamented Lionel Messi’s retirement from the Argentine national team.

He expressed his wish to see the Barcelona record breaker back in an Argentina shirt soon.

Messi said he has quit International football after missing a golden opportunity to add a national honour to his blistering career.

A penalty he missed in the shoot out where they lost against Chile in the Copa America tournament pushed him to take the decision.

But Messi’s rival, Ronaldo said the 28 year old needs to rethink his hasty decision and go back in the Argentine shirt.

Ronaldo told Mundo Deportivo, “Messi has taken a decision and people have to understand him.

“He’s not used to defeats and disappointments, or even finishing second.

“Missing a penalty doesn’t make you a bad player.

“It hurts me to see Messi crying and I hope he comes back to the national team.”
